About Michael Bouhanna

MB Fine Art Advisory is an independent practice founded by Michael Bouhanna, specialising in the Post-War and Contemporary art market. Based between New York and Miami, the firm advises private collectors on acquisitions, sales, and long-term collection strategy.

Michael Bouhanna brings fifteen years of experience in the international art market, including eleven years at Sotheby's across Paris, London, and New York. As a Director of auction sales and Vice President, he led Post-War and Contemporary Art sales and headed a department generating over two hundred million dollars in gross sales across auction and private sale over the last three years.

Drawing on a global network of collectors, galleries, and dealers, the firm provides clients with privileged access to opportunities on both the primary and secondary markets, whether to build a collection with intention or to sell at the right moment and through the right channel.

Relying on a network of international collectors and professionals, MB Fine Art Advisory provides its clients with independent expertise and privileged access to the best opportunities on the market.

Acquiring

We identify acquisition opportunities through an extensive international network of galleries, dealers, collectors, and auction houses. For every work we recommend, we provide a thorough analysis of its place within the artist's body of work, its provenance and exhibition history, its condition, and its fair market value. We negotiate terms on your behalf and manage every step of the process through to delivery and installation.

Selling

Selling a work of art is a strategic decision that requires careful timing, accurate valuation, and the right channel. We advise on when and how to sell, whether through a private transaction, a gallery placement, or an auction consignment, and negotiate the most favourable terms on your behalf.

For auction sales, we approach multiple houses, compare proposals, and secure the best consignor agreements, including price guarantees where appropriate. For private sales, we provide access to our international network of collectors and advisors to find the right buyer at the right price.

Collection Strategy & Management

A great collection is more than the sum of its parts. We work with collectors to define and develop a coherent vision, identifying areas of focus, setting acquisition priorities, and ensuring that every work is properly insured, stored, documented, and conserved.

Cataloguing, valuation, insurance, conservation, transportation, and coordination of loans to museums and exhibitions.

Art-Backed Lending

Art collections represent significant financial value. We connect clients with specialist lending partners to explore financing solutions secured against works in their collection, and advise on structure and terms.

Among our recent placements in prestigious private collections are works by:

Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Pierre Soulages, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama, Lee Ufan, George Condo, Jean Dubuffet, Louise Bourgeois, Tracey Emin, Vera Molnár, Matthew Wong, and others.
